AstraZeneca cumpără Alexion Pharmaceuticals, pentru 39 miliarde de dolari

Compania britanică AstraZeneca a acceptat să cumpere producătorul american de medicamente Alexion Pharmaceuticals, pentru 39 miliarde de dolari, printr-o tranzacţie mixtă, numerar şi acţiuni, în scopul de a-şi consolida poziţia în domeniul imunologiei şi bolilor rare.

AstraZeneca este unul dintre liderii cercetărilor din industria farmaceutică în domeniului vaccinului pentru COVID-19.

Sâmbătă, AstraZeneca a anunţat că acţionarii Alexion vor primi 60 de dolari în numerar şi 2,1243 de acţiuni AstraZeneca tranzacţionate în SUA pentru fiecare titlu Alexion, ceea ce implică un preţ total de 175 de dolari pe acţiune.

Titlurile Alexion au închis, vineri, la aproximativ 121 de dolari pe acţiune.

„Această achiziţie ne permite să ne majorăm prezenţa în domeniul imunologiei. Alexion schimbă viaţa pacienţilor cu boli rare”, a afirmat directorul general al AstraZeneca, Pascal Soriot.

Tranzacţia, care ar urma să se finalizeze în trimestrul doi din 2021, a fost aprobată de Consiliile de Administraţie ale celor două companii. Acordul urmează să fie supus spre aprobare acţionarilor şi autorităţilor de reglementare.
