Guvernele europene trebuie să fie selective când vine vorba de izolările din cauza COVID, pentru a limita pagubele economice, şi în acelaşi timp trebuie să majoreze cheltuielile publice pentru a susţine companiile şi familiile, au declarat vineri mai mulţi oficiali de la Banca Centrală Europeană (BCE), transmite Reuters, citat de agerpres.

Mai multe state din zona euro, precum Germania, Franţa şi Irlanda, au introdus în ultimele zile noi măsuri de izolare sau de restricţionare a circulaţiei pentru a lupta împotriva propagării coronavirusului, cu riscul de a slăbi şi mai mult sectorul cheie al serviciilor, care est deja afectat de grava recesiune din primăvară.

„Trebuie să încercăm să învingem virusul fără a închide total economia deoarece consecinţele în termeni de pierdere a activităţii economice sunt foarte foarte grave” a declarat vicepreşedintele BCE, Luis de Guindos.

La finalul reuniunii de joi a consiliului guvernatorilor, BCE a anunţat în mod clar că pregăteşte noi măsuri de sprijinire pentru luna decembrie, în condiţiile în care noile restricţii au generat îngrijorări privind o dublă recesiune în zona euro. Cu toate acestea, oficialii BCE continuă să ceară guvernelor să facă ceea ce este de datoria lor pentru a relansa economia, explicând că rolul politicii monetare este unul limitat.

Însă această prudenţă ar putea obliga băncile să fie şi ele mai selective cu acordarea de împrumuturi, ceea ce riscă să declanşeze o criză a creditului în pofida faptului că lichiditatea din sectorul bancar este la un nivel record.

„Este important ca măsurile de susţinere bugetară să fie adaptate în funcţie de ritmul relansării economice. Nu vrem să ajungem într-o situaţie în care reducem rapid stimulentele pentru că aceasta ar provoca o cădere şi mai puternică”, a spus Luis de Guindos.
