Bulgaria, ţară care împreună cu Croaţia se pregăteşte să adere la zona euro, s-a alăturat joi în mod oficial Uniunii Bancare Europene, a anunţat Banca Centrală a Bulgariei (BNB), informează AFP, citat de Agerpres.

Acest pas va permite Băncii Centrale Europene să supervizeze direct cele mai mari cinci bănci ale ţării, a declarat Radoslav Mikenkov, şef pe supervizare la BNB.

Bulgaria şi Croaţia ar putea adera la zona euro în ianuarie 2024, a anunţat în vară Valdis Dombrovskis, vicepreşedinte executiv al Comisiei Europene responsabil de Afaceri economice. Bulgaria şi Croaţia s-au alăturat în iulie Mecanismului European al Ratelor de Schimb (ERM-2), sistemul care pregăteşte admiterea în zona euro, urmând să fie monitorizate cel puţin doi ani pentru a se observa dacă îndeplinesc criteriile Tratatului Maastricht.

Bulgaria şi Croaţia ar putea fi pregătite în 2023, dar „tradiţia este că moneda euro este introdusă în ianuarie, ceea ce ne conduce la data de 1 ianuarie 2024”, a spus Valdis Dombrovskis.
