Paul R. Milgrom și Robert B. Wilson, cercetători în cadrul Universității Stanford din Statele Unite, au fost premiați cu Nobelul pentru Economie în 2020, a anunțat luni Academia Suedeză, citată de Reuters.

Cei doi au primit premiul pentru ”îmbunătățiri ale teoriei licitațiilor și inventarea de noi formate de licitații”, potrivit realitatea.net

”Laureații de anul acesta, Paul Milgrom and Robert Wilson, au studiat cum funcționează licitațiile. De asemenea, ei au folosit ideile lor pentru a realiza noi formate de licitații pentru bunuri și servicii dificil de vândut în modul tradițional, precum frecvențele radio. Descoperirile lor au adus beneficii vânzătorilor, cumpărătorilor și plătitorilor de taxe din toată lumea”, se afirmă în motivarea acordării premiului.

”Laureații premiului pentru Științe Economice de anul acesta au pornit de la teoriile fundamentale, iar apoi au folosit rezultatele lor în domeniul practicii, acestea răspândindu-se la nivel global. Descoperirile lor au adus mari beneficii societății”, a spus Peter Fredriksson, președintele Comisiei pentru Premiile Nobel.

Premiul pentru economie a fost ultimul din cele șase Nobel-uri acordate în 2020. Nobelul pentru Pace a fost acordat Programului Alimentar al ONU, cel pentru Literatură poetei americane Louise Gluck, Nobelul pentru Chimie a venit în sprijinul dezvoltării unei metode de editare a genomului, cel pentru Fizică pentru studiul găurilor negre, în timp ce Medicina a fost atentă la studiul Hepatitei C.
