Organizaţia Mondială a Turismului (UNWTO) a anunţat o reducere cu 65% a numărului de sosiri internaţionale în primul semestru din 2020, ceea ce înseamnă pierderi de 460 de miliarde de euro pentru industria călătoriilor din întreaga lume, relatează Agerpres.

Veniturile pierdute în primele şase luni din acest an „sunt de aproximativ cinci ori mai mari faţă de veniturile globale din turism înregistrate în timpul crizei financiare din 2009”, a estimat instituţia, cu sediul la Madrid.

Sosirile internaţionale au scăzut cu 440 milioane în perioada ianuarie – iunie 2020, sau 65%, cel mai sever declin fiind înregistrat în Asia, prima regiune care a simţit impactul pandemiei de coronavirus (Covid-19).

În primul semestru din 2020, sosirile turiştilor au scăzut cu 72% în Asia, cu 66% în Europa, cu 57% în Africa şi Orientul Mijlociu şi cu 55% în America de Nord şi de Sud.

„Este o scădere fără precedent, deoarece ţările din întreaga lume şi-au închis frontierele şi au introdus restricţii de călătorie, ca răspuns la pandemie”. În timp ce turiştii revin lent către unele destinaţii, „reducerea cererii pentru călătorii şi a încrederii consumatorilor” va continua să afecteze turismul pentru tot restul anului, se arată în raportul UNWTO.

Instituţia estimează că numărul sosirilor vizitatorilor străini va scădea cu aproximativ 70% în 2020, din cauza efectelor pandemiei. Va fi nevoie de doi până la patru ani pentru ca sosirile turiştilor să revină la nivelul de anul trecut, în condiţiile în care mai mult de jumătate din destinaţii au relaxat restricţiile de călătorie până la începutul lunii septembrie. În 2019, numărul sosirilor turiştilor străini a urcat cu 4%, la 1,5 miliarde, cele mai vizitate ţări din lume fiind Franţa, Spania şi SUA.

„Călătorii internaţionale sigure şi responsabile sunt acum posibile în multe părţi ale lumii şi este esenţial ca autorităţile să colaboreze cu sectorul privat pentru a pune din nou în mişcare turismul global”, a afirmat secretarul general al UNWTO, Zurab Pololikashvili.
