Indicii bursieri de pe Wall Street au închis la niveluri record, datorită speranţelor legate de un nou vaccin promiţător pentru Covid-19

Indicii S&P 500 şi Dow Jones au încheiat tranzacţiile de luni la niveluri record, datorită speranţelor de eradicare a Covid-19 cu ajutorul unui nou vaccin, al companiei Moderna, în timp ce creşterea numărului de infecţii şi noile restricţii impuse de guvernul american riscă să întârzie redresarea din recesiunea provocată de pandemie, transmite Reuters.

Compania farmaceutică Moderna a anunţat că vaccinul său pentru Covid-19 are o eficacitate de 94,5% în prevenirea infectării cu noul coronavirus, pe baza datelor interimare ale unui studiu clinic în fază finală.

Pfizer a anunţat la rândul său, pe 9 noiembrie, că vaccinul său are o eficacitate de peste 90%. În funcţie de noi date şi de evaluările autorităţilor de reglementare, Statele Unite ar putea avea la dispoziţie în acest an până la 60 de milioane de doze de vaccinuri. Cererea a fost ridicată pentru acţiunile companiilor care au fost afectate să restricţiile adoptate pentru limitarea răspândirii pandemiei.

Titlurile United Airlines Holdings, American Airlines Group, Carnival şi Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings au închis în creştere puternică. Covid-19 continuă însă să facă ravagii în Statele Unite, unde numărul cazurilor a depăşit 11 milioane, cu un număr record de infectări în 40 de state, ceea ce a determinat statele să înăsprească măsurile de distanţare socială.

Indicele Dow Jones Industrial Average a crescut cu 1,62%, S&P 500 cu 1,18%, iar Nasdaq Composite cu 0,8%.
