Banca Mondială a declarat miercuri că este pregătită să mobilizeze resursele pe care le are la dispoziţie pentru a ajuta Libanul după exploziile de amploare produse marţi în Beirut, soldate cu moartea a peste 100 de persoane, rănirea altor câteva mii şi distrugerea unei părţi a capitalei, transmite AFP, citat de Agerpres.

Instituţia a dat asigurări că îşi poate „desfăşura expertiza pentru a efectua o evaluare rapidă a pagubelor şi a nevoilor şi pentru a dezvolta un plan de reconstrucţie în conformitate cu standardele internaţionale”, se arată într-un comunicat dat publicităţii miercuri.

Banca Mondială s-a oferit să „împărtăşească lecţii şi experienţe din întreaga lume în gestionarea proceselor de redresare şi reconstrucţie după o catastrofă”. A subliniat, de asemenea, că ar putea „participa activ la o platformă cu partenerii din Liban pentru a mobiliza sprijin financiar public şi privat pentru reconstrucţie”.

Descriindu-se drept „un partener de lungă durată al Libanului”, Banca Mondială a mai susţinut că este „(dispusă) să reprogrameze resursele existente şi să exploreze finanţări suplimentare”.

În aprilie, Banca Mondială a acordat Libanului un împrumut de 120 de milioane de dolari pentru a sprijini sectorul sănătăţii. Ţara se confruntă cu cea mai gravă criză economică din ultimele decenii, marcată de deprecierea fără precedent a monedei, hiperinflaţie, disponibilizări masive şi restricţii bancare drastice.
