Un mare retailer de fashion a anunţat că închide toate magazinele

Unul dintre cei mai mari retaileri de fashion, a anunţat că închide toate cele 124 de puncte de desfacere, potrivit BBC. Magazinele Debenhams vor fi închise după eşuarea eforturilor de ultim moment pentru salvarea acestora, iar toţi cei 12.000 de angajaţi îşi vor pierde probabil locurile de muncă, relatează BBC.  

Debenhams, care operează 124 de magazine, a intrat pentru a doua oară în administrare specială în luna aprilie, iar speranţele de salvare au depins de o oferă venită din partea companiei JD Sports. Speranţele de salvare a lanţului de magazine cu o istorie de 242 de ani s-au risipit însă după ce JD Sports s-a retras de la discuţii.  

Cele 12.000 de locuri de muncă ale companiei vor fi desfiinţate în următoarele luni, dacă administratorii acesteia nu vor reuşi să încheie un acord pentru întreaga companie sau o parte din aceasta. Angajaţii au primit această veste în dimineaţa zilei de marţi.  

Magazinele Debenhams vor continua să accepte cardurile lor pentru cumpărături în magazine, iar returnările de produse vor decurge normal. Hilco, firmă de restructurare specializată în lichidarea comercianţilor cu amănuntul, va începe să lucreze în magazine de miercuri, pentru a începe compensarea stocurilor.  

Ştirile referitoare la Debenhams au venit la câteva ore după ce proprietarul Topshop, Arcadia, a intrat în administrare specială, punând în pericol 13.000 de locuri de muncă. Condiţiile dificile de pe piaţa comerţului cu amănuntul în timpul pandemiei de coronavirus s-au dovedit a fi ultima lovitură pentru ambele firme, care au cumultat peste 25.000 de angajaţi. ”S-au luat toate măsurile rezonabile pentru a finaliza o tranzacţie care să asigure viitorul Debenhams. Cu toate acestea, mediul economic este extrem de dificil şi, împreună cu incertitudinea cu care se confruntă industria de retail din Marea Britanie, nu s-a putut ajunge la o tranzacţie viabilă”, a declarat Geoff Rowley de la FRP Advisory, co-administrator al Debenhams şi partener la FRP.

Guvernul de la Londra este pregătit să-i ajute pe angajaţii afectaţi de decizia închiderii lanţului britanic de magazine Debenhams, a anunţat marţi un purtător de cuvânt al premierului Boris Johnson.

„Evident că înţelegem îngrijorările profunde cu care se confruntă angajaţii Debenhams şi suntem pregătiţi să-i sprijinim şi ne menţinem angajamentul de a sprijini sectorul de retail, colaborăm strâns cu industria în această perioadă dificilă”, le-a spus jurnaliştilor purtătorul de cuvânt.
